justice DVNO 80's old school TV bumpers - logo list here!

i'm loving justice's video for DVNO right now. it's loaded with all the classically old school 1980 TV bumpers (HBO, sega, NBC, PBS, etc.) I've tried to compile a list of all the retro logo promos and post screenshots for reference, so you don't have to play and pause the video a million times like i did. i still have some missing, so let me know if you find something that works and i'll fill it in here...

Ed Banger Records:

DVNO: Channel 4

The same, ashamed:

Story Telling part 1: NBC

Story Telling part 2: CBS Storybreak

eye: Hal 9000

One More Time: The Gong Show

No Offense (logo):

No Offense (shooting stars): Paramount

Membership:

Yound and Old: This looks SO familiar. Someone suggested This Old House, but it doesn't match.

Ugly Girls & Boys: PBS

Slate with explosion: Showtime

Mayhem: MacGyver intro at 14 seconds

Only One Can Win: Similar in shading to the old Transformers intro (here or here), or it could be the original Terminator animated logo.

DVNO: HBO

Ask My Name:

DVNO:

Details:

SWEAT: SEGA

Belt: Top Gun

Cool: Kool Cigarettes or Audi, but some people think this looks like something else, with the grids forming the letters. We can't pinpoint what it may be, but it looks vaguely familiar.

Anyone read, anyone feel: Universal Studios Florida

Patience: Speculation that this is inspired by the Cheers logo

Pinball: Nickelodeon

Waxed:

DVNO: best guess here is orion?

Lipstick case explode: this looks pretty familiar, but i couldn't find anything

Girls: my best guess here is new york dolls...?

(Film Canister): Nickelodeon or Regal Cinemas

No Need to Ask My Name:

DVNO: Some people are thinking this is from Dianetics, the book by Ron L. Hubbard. If anyone thinks this looks familiar to something else, please let me know.

printed in gold: Cannon Films

even more: 20th Century Fox

Floating Cross: Michael and Friends

DVNO 4 Capital Letters:

DVNO: CBS/Fox

paper J: Stephen J. Cannell Productions

The Hollywood sign DVNO seems reminiscent of the GTA: San Andreas tv spots.

"Patience" looks like the logo of CHEERS tv show from NBC.

The DVNO before 'printed in gold' might be Dianetics...?

I'd say "Only one can win" reminds me of transformers

yeah, i agree with nathan. i'm certain it's dianetics, especially since i think there's a volcano mixed in there as well.

The "Mayhem" explosion reminded me of the one in the MacGyver intro (at 0:14)

Though the typeface is different, it would fit the 80's theme.

The DVNO on a hill is from a more recent HBO feature presentation open.

the Young & Old reminded me of This Old House... ? maybe not.

the dvno thing your cslling dianetics is dolby surround... it goes through the city part first

I believe that the "story telling" logo was heavily influenced by the CBS Storybreak bumpers.

The DVNO right before Details I think is from NOVA, a PBS science program.

The DVNO that you attributed to Dianetics is actually from the extended version of the HBO in space logo. You can view the full version here:

"The same, ashamed" looks like the original Worldvision logo.

Young and Old = Home Alone???

I guess "Only one can win" is an allusion to Mad Max, besides Mayhem looks a lot like transformers logo and feel

There's a load that I recognize but can't place, esp. the 'Young&Old' logo, almost certainly an insurance/banking company.

Also there's a moment at 2.34 where the 'DVNO' is unmistakably done as the 80's UA logo mid-turn.

hm... the logo on the film canister kinda reminds me of "Intel VIVE" (or how it's spelled)

The COOL logo in pink looks like the Audi circles logo.

Fantastic compilation! The most thorough one I've seen yet, and delves into more obscure logotypes too.

The "Lipstick case explode" is somewhat reminiscent of how the Death Star blows up. I don't know what other visual inspiration may've been involved.

Would the "membership" ticket be reminiscent of the Willy Wonka golden ticket?

"No need to ask my name" - the floating N's are pretty reminiscent of a Robert Abel commercial from the mid-70s. Quite groundbreaking.

On that note, the "Light" animation in the same commercial is similar to "Patience".

I just realized today that the fadeout of the CBS/Fox styled "DVNO" is probably inspired by United Artists' logo.

Young and Old: Possibly based on a 1980's logo for UK building society Cheltenham and Gloucester

Ugly Girls and Boys: Possibly based on a 1980's logo for the Open University (UK again)

WAXED goes for the XBOX logo.

i'm new... promise to brief nearly more oftentimes!

the "details" part at the first chorus reminds me of the old "challenge tv" idents

"Ed Banger Records" is reminiscent of Charles in Charge
