New Trend: Themed Restaurants in Japan

The Japanese have always been known to lead the way in technology, fashion, and weirdness. Lately, a new trend of themed restaurants has become very popular in Japanese culture. From maid themed restaurants, prison themed, ninja themed, to vampire themed. I've even seen a toilet themed Japanese restaurant at one point. Friends of mine want to conceptualize a "high-school babysitter with braces and pigtails" themed restaurant....that's the only one missing.

PS - I personally would love to have a toilet bowl full of swirly soft serve ice cream. Especially if it's brown. Maybe with some nuts or chunks of brownie sprinkled on top. And kernels of corn if you're into that sort of thing.....

Sauce Dispensing Chop Sticks

For a mere $21, you will never have to dip your sushi in soy sauce ever again. They’re chop sticks made out of ABS and polypropylene and they can stand heat ranges from -5 degrees to 90 degrees. Just fill them with whatever liquid you like. Soy sauce, teriyaki, oil & vinegar...

Tom Cruise Scientology Freedom Medal of Valor - Acceptance Speech, The Rest of the Video!

Here are some screen captures I took from the full length video that has popped up on the internet today debuting Tom Cruise's acceptance speech of the "Freedom Medal of Valor" at a Scientology ceremony honoring him.

Here is a wide shot with Tom Cruise & Scientology cult leader David Miscavige standing in front of the gaudy stage adornments. I love how they've over done it with the globe, wings, flames, marble and gold.

And finally, at the end of Tom's acceptance speech, he turns to salute a giant portrait of Ron L. Hubbard (Scientologist creator and Science fiction author....?)

Here's a closeup of the shiny hubcap that was dangling from Tom's neck by a ribbon. Don't you love the diamond encrusted cheesiness?

These guys really are taking their secret babysitters club totally seriously!

I think Tom Cruise loves this guy Miscavige cause he's shorter than him....

Click here for the awards ceremony and here for the pre-taped indoctrination video. Who knows how long these will actually remain up on the internet.

My prediction for 2009!!!

And finally.... my Apple computer prediction for 2010....

(ps - please note that all dates & images represented here are based upon a rough guess and may not be exact.)

(pss - it's also fun to note that beginning in 1994, avid apple fans began systematically being poor because they'd have to purchase a new laptop every year in order to maintain their status as true apple followers. Something that Apple computer has continued to do well into 2008, by updating all of their products yearly so you will virtually NEVER have the shiniest new toy on the block.

(psss - sometime around 1998 they decided to shoot images from the left side rather than the right.)
